Welcome to The Landscaped Garden. Professionally inspired development, management and maintenance for landscaped gardens across Surrey and South West London.

Why use The Landscaped Garden

We specialise in the development, management and maintenance of gardens that have been landscaped and need professional care and attention.

How we can help

From resolving specific problem areas that you have in the garden, to complete re-design and replanting to maintenance to the highest standards, we specialise in combining the technical with the artistic and the practical to truly make the best of your garden.

Whilst our focus is on soft landscaping we can incorporate hard landscaping (patios etc) into any work if this is required.

We will do this in an honest and transparent way; we are looking to develop a long term relationship with our clients, not a quick fix, and we value clear communication.  We want you to be extremely happy both with what we do as well as how we do it. Any work that we undertake will be to an agreed schedule so that you know what you are going to get, and what you are paying for.

Who we are

Experienced in providing solutions we are professionally qualified in the horticultural industry, with 20 years practical experience of developing, managing and maintaining gardens.  Additionally having worked outside horticulture we bring a business like approach to our work focusing on you the client, in order to deliver the ‘whole package’.

What we do

Being more specific, we;

  • Re-design gardens and their planting, taking you through a definition process that will take into account your tastes, your intentions for the garden and the best plants for the environment that you have.  Where possible we retain appropriate or desirable materials. (See ‘Our Services – Re-Design’ for more details).
  • Re-structure beds and ensure that they are viable for the type of garden that you want.
  • Source and select our plants personally (only in exceptional circumstances do we outsource this to trusted suppliers).
  • Use trusted service providers for tree and hedge surgery and lawn repair.
  • Plant up beds under the new schema, undertaking any formative or re-generative pruning for existing plants to give it the best balance and look possible.
  • Cover all aspects of garden maintenance including grass cutting and seasonal activities required to keep things looking good (eg weeding, deadheading, seasonal nutrition programmes, mulching etc) and as a standard will take place on an agreed date and time schedule to keep things clear and transparent.
  • Agree maintenance schedules on a monthly basis to cover the work needed to protect the investment that you have made.
  • Provide considered specific advice on questions that you have, defining solutions where needed for you to implement at your leisure. This advice will be documented for you in a clear format.
  • Provide training on maintaining the garden, helping you to develop your skills in order to feel confident in what you do. This will be done in a hands-on way, working together to undertake practical maintenance tasks so that the training is practical and relevant.

Our Re-design Process

Re-designing a garden may seem complicated; it’s often not a blank canvas and the options are many.  The process to reach an outcome however is not complicated.  We will do this in a jargon- free way and as quickly as possible, using readily available resources to illustrate your potential options. We only charge for our re-design service as part of any work agreed under a “Costed Proposal” (Step 6 onwards).

Step 1:

Get to know your objectives through one or more face to face meetings.

Step 2:

Understand the garden – aspect, soil, size, particular garden characteristics, existing/remaining planting.

Output:

A review (“Site Survey”) of the core characteristics of the garden as well as status of planting both generally and specifically. An initial set of ideas (“Initial Proposal”) highlighting areas of focus if you wish to proceed.

Step 3:

Define better your taste in plants and planting styles using highly visual tools and techniques.

Step 4:

Define specific areas of work and review potential options for plants materials and schemas.

Output:

A set of designs for each area under consideration. When planting is involved schemas will be drawn up to help illustrate the variations across the seasons as well as parts of the garden.

Step 5:

Gather feedback on the the defined activities. If required re-review until satisfactory.

Output:

A costed schedule (“Costed Proposal”) laying out all activities to be executed. Costing to be on a +/- 10% basis.

Step 6:

Agree costs and proposed timelines. Execute against these. Provide regular updates on progress and where significant deviations are experienced review as they arise. eg plant availability constraints, unforeseen blockages to progress.

Output:

A post implementation report (“Project Closure Report”) detailing what has been done and where, variations against the plan and the final cost re-conciliation. It is expected that this document confirms what we have already communicated to you throughout the implementation phase.
